Fourth of July Weekend

We had such a great and busy holiday weekend!  It is always nice when a holiday lands on a Monday, because it gives us a 3 day weekend to celebrate.  Since we are now living in Riverton, we participated in Riverton's Town Days and really enjoyed the festivities in this city.

On Friday night, there was a parade, which we went to.  It was so fun to see my kids sitting on a curb waiting for a parade to come, and watching all of the fun things go by!  After the parade we went over to the Town Days festivities and let the kids go on a couple of rides.  Sydney and Cooper both went on the carousel and a flying bug, and Sydney went on a small roller coaster all by herself.  Both of them loved all of the rides and had a great time.  Then there was a late night outside movie, playing How to Train a Dragon.  Movies in the park have become one of our favorite things to do in recent years, and we almost always jump on a chance to go to one.

Love those cute feet and Cooper's chubby fingers!

They loved the floats with the "princesses"

Go Cougars!

Finding Nemo float, a favorite

Cooper loved the merry-go-round, he kept saying "horsie, wee!"  or "uuupp...doowwn"

the flying bug

It was so crazy to see my little girl on a roller coaster by herself.  I'll admit, I was nervous!

but she loved it!

We actually sat on the back side of the movie screen.  They were projecting it up, so everything was backwards, but you couldn't really tell until the end, when the credits came up.  The great thing about it was, we got great, front-row seats!

We had such a great Saturday.  It was Matt's first day off (besides Sundays) in 2 months, since he has been working at the greenhouse on all his Comcast days off.  We loved having our daddy home with us and spending time all together!  We washed the car in the morning and had the Lang's over for a BBQ at night, followed by the Riverton fireworks.  I love the big firework shows, and was glad that this was a good one!

Such good helpers! (oh, and our new car for those of you who haven't seen it!)

Waiting for fireworks

Such good friends

love that cheesy smile

I loved watching my kids cuddle with their dad while watching the fireworks.

On Monday, the 4th, Matt actually had to work from 1- 10.  He woke up early and went golfing with my dad and brothers, and then right when he got home we drove him to work, so we could have the car.  So we got to spend a good 15 minutes with him.  In the late afternoon the kids and I went over to my family's house for a BBQ before we had to leave for the Bees game.  We roasted some marshmallows, to try out my mom's new fire pit, and made some smores.  If you've ever made smores in the middle of a 100 degree day, it is very hot, and your chocolate melts.  So it was very messy, very fun, and very tasty!  (I actually think smores are so much better when the chocolate is melty).  Cooper would not hold his own smore because he hated having messy hands, so we had to hold it for him.  He finished the whole, big, messy thing.

So cute, roasting the mallows

The Bees game was so fun.  The kids were excited to go because they had so much fun at the last one we went to.  The game was perfect.  Lots of hits and runs, high scoring, Bees winning, and a little drama in the 9th inning with the other team hitting a grand slam to decrease our good sized lead.  Lucky for us, they never actually tied the game, so it lasted a good 9 innings and not longer :)  (2 years ago, we went to a Bees game on the 4th, and it went to 14 innings.  We were dying just waiting for the fireworks, and didn't even care who won at that point.)  My dad's dealership gave away a car at the end of the game, and then there was the best fireworks show in the state.  Seriously, the entire show is like the finale of most shows!  Sydney and Cooper were mesmerized the entire time.  It was a perfect way to end our fabulous weekend.

On the field, about to give away the car

Would be a perfect night if daddy were with us

The Fourth of July (combined with the 24th) is by far my favorite holiday.  I love that in Utah we get to pretty much celebrate all month!  There is nothing better than great weather, long days, BBQ's, baseball, parades, and fireworks!
